Group Design Approach

Understand, Communicate, Iterate.

Working alongside 16 students from different disciplines, I structured the teams’ research and iteration workshops to encourage cross-collaboration. Our research fed directly into pillars of design, informing our prototypes and final deliverables.

I led the design and development of a digital deliverable in the form of a web-based experience.

Reflection

Be proactive and communicate ideas with visuals.

Proactive:

With a team of 16 people, it was incredibly important to look at the tasks ahead and try to predict roadblocks in our path. I helped mitigate blocks in our path by documenting decisions in our process, and engaging with our initial design pillars to ensure that the volume of input was filtered with intent.

Communicate with Visuals:

Communicating ideas is hard. I learned how important it is to respect an idea, and fully engage with a team member’s idea — even if I disagree. Often the approach and foundation of an idea is similar, and utilizing that foundation to communicate about an idea helps. Going beyond communication style, asking someone to sketch an idea makes it a tangible piece, even if it is just a visual concept.
